a global movement of young people led by young people for young people

Youth Transforming Narratives (YTN) is a global movement of young people led by young people for young people who commit to re-defining global responses to the world’s most pressing issues.  Building on the principles of decolonization, localization, and youth leadership, we are determined to challenge the narrative, take the lead in transforming  the current existing structures, and bridge the South-North gap to re-shape future engagement.

OUR MISSION

YTN is a movement that believes in the need to decolonize peace and security, and the skills and potential of young people from the global south to do that. Our mission is to provide youth changemakers the needed digital platform, inclusive space, and diverse opportunities to strengthen their capacities in transforming the narrative, growing more informed of current changing geopolitics, actively and positively participating in transforming their communities, and applying a decolonial lens in framing global responses to local issues.

OUR VISION

YTN envisions a world where the South-North gap does not exist, where youth are meaningfully engaged in decision and policy making, and where global responses to local issues are based on insights from local communities themselves. We believe in the need to re-evaluate current structures where most young people from the global south are excluded in peace negotiations, peacebuilding and policymaking. As powerful agents of change, we see a world where young people are the primary frontline problem solvers of pressing global issues, where they are confident, safe, engaged, and well informed to respond in a way that ensure long-term sustainability.
