The Challenges of Peace-Building in Conflict Zones
Another training, another step towards progress! On 2nd April 2025, YTN successfully hosted its internal training session, "The Challenges of Peace-Building in Conflict Zones," led by Joshua Mahande, YTN Training Advisor. Using the Democratic Republic of Congo as a key case study, the session delved into complex issues such as the evolving nature of conflicts, the significant role first responders play in influencing the actions of key conflict actors, the prioritization of humanitarian aid over peace-building efforts during conflict escalation, and the importance of trauma healing in post-conflict recovery.
Most notably, the training emphasized the critical role of youth-led, inclusive, and locally-driven peace-building efforts.
Participants were highly engaged throughout the session, reflecting on the issues at hand and posing thoughtful questions. The use of case studies sparked deep interest, enhancing understanding of the multifaceted challenges in peace-building.
